Westfield girls track and field went to Zionsville on Wednesday for a dual meet versus the Eagles and came away with their first meet win of the season. The Shamrocks had 10 event winners on the evening to aid in the scoring for the team win. Westfield athletes were victorious in all three individual sprint events as Ella Jenkins (100 meters), Melody Lowry (200 meters), and Presley Perkins (400 meters) had their first sprint race victories of the season. In the distance events it was Jordyn Landrum who won the 800 by running 2:19.14, good for the 6th best time in school history. Izzy McCulloch (3200 meters) was the second distance athlete to win an event when she ran 12:17 over 3200 which was good for a 6 second PR. Shamrocks continued to dominate the field events and hurdles as we had three individual champs from these events. Gracie Czubik (high jump), Anna Wochomurka (pole vault), and Addy Friermood (100 hurdles) all came away victorious in their event. Finally, the two relays on the evening were both won by Westfield as the 4x100 relay team of Addy Busch, Melody Lowry, Chloe Stuart, and Izzy Brady won in a time of 50.95. Then the 4x400 relay team of Hayley Pitney, Jordyn Landrum, Maggie Naas, and Sam Foster finished first to cap off a great meet for the Shamrocks. Westfield will look to continue the hot start to the season as they compete in Showcase meets on Friday at Franklin Central and Lafayette Jeff. Let's Go Rocks!
