Varsity Baseball Falls to Heritage (TN) Mountaineers

The Shamrocks had trouble keeping up with the Heritage Mountaineers in a 9-2 loss on Friday in game one. Westfield got on the board in the top of the first inning after Collin Kern hit a sacrifice fly, and Kasen Jessup singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Heritage tied the game at two in the bottom of the second on a home run and then took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the third inning. Graham McDonald pitched three strong innings in relief for Westfield. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) while, striking out three and walking none. Ben Spencer opened the game for the Rocks surrendered one hit and three runs over two innings, striking out two and walking five. Maddox Novotney, led the team with two hits in the game. Westfield would go on to play a game against the Maryville Rebels in the night cap.
