The Shamrocks competed this past weekend at the IWU Wildcat Classic in Marion, Indiana. The cooler weather conditions set up a great day for Westfield runners throughout the meet! In the varsity race, the Rocks had eight runners break 22 minutes and saw all 12 Westfield competitors in the race run either season or career bests in the 5k race. Junior Ena Durbin was the first Shamrock across the line placing 50th overall in a time of 20:51. Other scorers for Westfield in the varsity race included Izzy McCulloch, Galiena Colon, Sam Plummer, and Olivia Barnett. The JV race saw more of the same as many Westfield athletes came away with career and season bests! Cecilia Schmidt was the first of the Shamrock runners to finish the race, cruising to a time of 21:40 to place 7th overall. Remaining scorers for the JV team that placed 6th include Alana Shank, Zoe Strahl, Ava Brandau, and Claire Young. The Shamrocks will host the Flashrock invitational next weekend at Northview Church in Carmel. Come out and support the Rocks!
