Westfield track and field opened the outdoor season on Thursday, competing in the first home meet of the season vs Brownsburg. The Shamrocks were defeated by a score of 72-46, but still had many great performances, including 5 event winners on the evening. Event winners for the Shamrocks included Gianna Ferreri in the 1600, Jenna Moulder in the high jump, Alyssa Heavilin in the 400, Anna Wochomurka in the 200, and the 4x400 relay team of Emmie Barker, Gianna Ferreri, Hayley Pitney, and Lyla Osborn. Other point scorers for Westfield on the track were Makena Schwerin, placing 3rd in the 100 hurdles, Sam Plummer, placing 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 800, Julie Choi, placing 3rd in the 400, Adelyn Friermood and Lily Sergeant, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 300 hurdles, and Phoebe Smith, placing 2nd in the 200. Scoring in field events for the Rocks were Jolie Miller and Lia Ricke, placing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the high jump, Anna Wochomurka 3rd in the pole vault, April Heckert was 3rd in the long jump, Zoe Burgei was 3rd in the shot put, and Fiona Farrar was 3rd in the discus. Even in defeat and tough conditions, it was a great way to open the outdoor season for Westfield. Shamrocks are back in action on Saturday with many athletes qualifying for and set to compete in the HSR finals at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Let's Go Rocks!
