Westfield track and field was back in action on Saturday at IWU for the second of the HSR qualifying meets on the season. It was another great day for the Rocks that even included a record-breaking performance. The highlight of the day for the Rocks was Senior Ella Jenkins breaking the school record in the pole vault on her way to winning the event in a jump of 12'6". This was also a new personal best for Jenkins to start the season in great fashion. Field events continued to highlight the day for the Rocks as Gracie Czubik placed 2nd in the high jump, also leaping to a new PR of 5'4", and Katelyn Eblen placed right behind in 3rd with a jump of 5'0". Zoe Burgei placed 9th in the Shot put with a new PR toss of 32'10" to open up her indoor season. On the track, the 3200 runners started off the meet well for the Rocks as the freshmen duo of Ella Lidskin and Emma Pitney placed 6th and 7th, both racing to PRs for the 3200 distance in 11:47 and 11:50, respectively. Hurdlers took the track next, and Eblen, along with freshman Jenna Rhodes, placed 4th and 5th, respectively, both racing to PR times in the 60-meter hurdles. Eblen finished in 9.72, and Rhodes in 9.82. The Shamrock relays once again had a great night as all placed in the top 6 of their events, and 3 of the relays placing 3rd. The 4x800 placed 3rd in a time of 9:54.96, the 4x200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:49.98, the DMR relay placed 6th in a time of 12:48.87, and the 4x400 relay placed 3rd in a time of 4:08.51. It was an overall fantastic weekend for the Shamrocks at IWU. Westfield will be in action next on Wednesday at Brownsburg for the HCC Indoor meet. Let's Go Rocks!
