The Westfield girls track and field team opened up the 2026 season, competing at Indiana Wesleyan in the first HSR qualifier of the season last Friday night. The Rocks had many great performances on the night to get the season started. Starting on the track, Sam Plummer and Sofia Grisel kicked off the evening, placing 9th and 10th in the 3200 racing together the whole way to times of 12:35 and 12:36, respectively. Freshman Addy Bush placed 6th in the 60-meter hurdles in a new PR time of 10.51. Another freshman, Izzy Brady, placed 8th in the 60-meter dash in a best time of 8.36. Westfield relay events all placed well on the night. The 4x800 relay team placed 5th in a time of 10:29.54. The 4x200 relay team also placed 5th in a time of 1:54.84. The DMR relay team placed 4th in a time of 13:58.39, and the 4x400 relay also came away with a fourth-place finish in a time of 4:22.88. In the field events, Jolie Miller placed 3rd in the high jump, tying her PR with a jump of 5'1". Jenna Moulder also tied her PR in the high jump, placing 6th with a leap of 4'10". Izzy Brady placed 7th in the long jump with a 15'.25" to place top 7 in her second event of the evening. The Rocks got off to a great start to the season on Friday. Westfield will have two meets this upcoming week, with HCC Indoors on Wednesday and IWU #3 HSR Qualifier on Saturday. Go Rocks!
