The Freshman Shamrocks ended the week on a great note as they beat Hamilton Southeastern 34-33. A highly contested game that saw the Rocks down 13-18 at halftime. 1/8 from the free-throw line and 7 turnovers had the Rocks on the ropes. However, Lincoln Whitaker had 5 points, and Gavin Banas had 3 to keep the game manageable going into the break. The third quarter saw a new life from the boys as Kaleb Cole got his teammates the ball in great spots, Isaac Jones knocked down his free throws, and Gavin Banas had some great cuts to the basket to have the Rocks up 25-23 going into the last quarter. The fourth quarter did not start ideally as HSE got out to a 5-point lead and held it for most of the quarter. Down 5 with 28 seconds remaining, Kaleb Cole got around a double team and hit a 14-foot pull-up to cut the deficit to one possession. After a timeout, Dante Jones, who got kicked in the face minutes earlier, returned to the game. Gavin Banas and Kaleb Cole pressured the ball and got a steal, leading to an Isaac Jones layup to cut the game to 1. One more turnover forced by the Rocks had the ball in Kaleb Cole's hands with roughly 8 seconds left in the game. He attacked downhill and dished to Adrean Scott, who went up through contact to score the eventual game-winning basket with 2 seconds remaining. The Freshman Rocks have the next week off before facing conference foe, Brownsburg, on Monday, January 26th. As ALWAYS, it's a great day to be a Shamrock!
