The Freshman Rocks finished off the calendar year on a strong foot Tuesday night up in Lafayette as they handed the Raiders of Harrison a 39-37 defeat. Led by Braelyn Rush with 11 points on 3 three-pointers, the Rocks were excellent on all facets of the game. Gavin Banas had a big block in the lane and had a great cut to the basket that was rewarded by Lincoln Whitaker with the assist. The Rocks turned the ball over right before the end of the first half, but Adrean Scott immediately had the presence of mind to advance the ball up the floor to Greyson Hampton. As a quarterback on the football field, Greyson is used to throwing the long ball, but he did a great job catching this one to make a layup as time expired to cut the halftime deficit to 3. The tides turned in favor of the Shamrocks with a couple of blocks by Aiden Hairston, and the cherry on top was a big 3 by him to put the Rocks up 3 going into the fourth. The fourth quarter was all about finishing, as the squad has struggled in the free-throw department this year. A nice floater by Greyson Hampton and a big three-ball by Lincoln Whitaker put the Rocks in a great position to win the game. Up 2 with the ball, Kaleb Cole stepped up to the line and knocked down both free throws to put the game out of reach. The Freshman Shamrocks head into winter break after getting wins 6 and 7 this week. It's a great day to be a Shamrock!
