The Lady Rocks of the WHS Track & Field team traveled to the University of Indianapolis on Saturday to take part in the most intense meet to date this season — The Hoosier Crossroads Conference Indoor Championship. Many individuals rose to meet the challenge and answered the call marvelously. Leading the charge was the senior captain Zoe Pentecost. Locked neck-in-neck for the top thrower of the meet, Zoe hurled the shot for a new personal best of 36′ 3″ and a close second place. Sophomore Haley Boehm also made her presence known. The sophomore exploded onto the scene in the 60 M Hurdles, running a 9.77 for a second place finish. Sophomore Sydney Black continued to demonstrate her excellent progress in the long jump, going for a distance of 16′ 5.5″ and a third place finish. In the relays, the 4 x 800 team ran a 9:58.09, one of the state’s top 15 times. The Distance Medley Relay also produced a strong performance, running a 13:32.40 for a 5th place finish. The Rocks look to add more possible qualifiers to the HSR Indoor state as they will go to the final qualifier, also held at U Indy, next Saturday, March 16th. Go Rocks!
