On Saturday, March 2nd, the girls track and field team participated in the second HSR qualifier hosted by IWU in Marion, Indiana. The girls displayed a lot of grit and pushed themselves to perform their best throughout the day. The Distance Medley Relay placed third in a field of 18 teams, running a 13:16.79. Other individual girls stood out as well. In the throws, Zoe Pentecost placed 7th, while Madison Dowden achieved a new indoor shot put personal best. Sophomores Ava Martin and Emily Rhodes competed well in the 60 M dash while Jadeyn Hammes and Raychl Zimmerman gave their all in the 60 M Hurdles. The 4 x 800 relay fought its way to a 7th place finish in a field of 14 teams, running a time of 11:22.97. Sophomore Jadeyn Hammes made her presence felt in the long jump as well, leaping her way to a 14′ 6.75″ result and a 9th place finish. The Rocks will head to the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, March 9th, to compete in the annual Oriole Invite, starting at 10:00 a.m.
