The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their 9th and final game of the season vs Franklin Central High School. The JV Rocks team took a few early shots to the chin from the Flashes but answered every adverse condition as if it were an opportunity to show their dominance. The Rocks won the game 40-14 to earn an 8-1 record for the season.

The JV Rocks defense struggled a bit early on in this game. The first two drives for the Flashes offense were long and physical drives where it looked like the Rocks defense would not be able to stop the opposing team all day. After the first quarter, the Rocks defense put the clamps down and shut down the Flashes for the rest of the game. Player of the game, sophomore David Frey, was very productive on the day forcing a fumble and sacking the quarterback multiple times in clutch situations. Sophomore safety Joey Wolfe also contributed with an interception before half. Sophomore cornerback Ian Watson single handedly shut down the Flashes on 4 consecutive plays to keep the shutout in the second half.

The JV Rocks offense dominante through the air. Sophomore quarterback Nick Talley threw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns on his way to player of the game accolades. Sophomore wide receiver Adam Garretson was the recipient of one of those touchdowns to put the game away. Sophomore kick-off returner Mason Piening started the game by answering the initial Franklin Central touchdown with a kick-off return touchdown of his own to tie the game at 7-7. The big play on offense came from sophomore running back Jack Pfeiffer who scored on a huge screen reception that ran for 60 yards and tied the game at 14-14. Talley connected with sophomore Carson Voorhis at the end of the half to give the Rocks a permanent lead.

This was a great year for this JV team. They persevered and showed great heart while winning multiple close games. Their only loss came in overtime to the JV conference champion Avon team. Congratulations Rocks on a great JV season.
