Weakened by the injuries of several point scorers, the boys track team nonetheless had some strong performances at the HCC meet Friday night.
The highlights of the evening were the 2nd place finish of the 4×800 relay of Mahamat Djour, Max Gutwein, Jacob Beene, and David Mannella, and the strong performances by Jacob Netral in the shot put and discus. Netral finished 4th in the disc, nearly matching his PR with a strong 151 foot throw, and then came back in the shot and finished 6th in as one of a handful of double scorers for the Shamrocks. Djour also scored in the 400, while Mannella had a great night, also finishing 5th in the 800.
The other relays also scored with the 4×100 of Francis Agbo, Mason Piening, Mario Chalmers, and Alex Kukra coming in 5th, and the 4×400 of Djour, Beene, Kukura and Joe Harris finishing 7th. Other scorers for the boys included Noah Douthit in the 1600, Agbo, another double scorer, in the 200, Calvin Grenda in the 300 hurdles, and Cooper Boehm in the 110 hurdles.
The boys are back in action next Thursday, May 9 at Guerin Catholic HS for the Hamilton County meet.
