The Westfield Girls Track & Field squad won the annual Westfield Invite with a score of 109.5. The opposing teams were Eastern Hancock High School, finishing with 30 points and Franklin Central, finishing with 26.5 points. In the field events, senior captain Zoe Pentecost won first place in the shot put. She earned a second place finish in the discus throw. Junior Maddie Dowden had a breakout meet, earning a second place finish in the shot. In the High Jump, senior Camille Kern won a first place finish with a jump of 4’ 6”. She was followed in third and fourth place by her teammates Haley Boehm and Gabrielle Wiernik respectively. Sophomores Madeline Ferreri and Jaden Hammes both placed in the long jump. Ferreri won second place with a leap of 15’ 6.5”, and Hammes earned a fourth place finish at 14’ 3”. In the pole vault, Lauren Ulsas and Taylor Jackson respectively earned 2nd and 3rd place honors.

In the track events, the Shamrocks won every relay event (the 4 x 800, 4 x 100, and 4 x 400). Every member of the 4 x 800 team ran for a new personal best time. Team members included Ashley Baldwin, Alyssa Schleper, Maya Francisco, and Margaret Barnett. Sophomore Haley Boehm had a career day in the 100 M Hurdles race, running for a new best time of 16.03. Jaden Hammes followed up closely behind in 2nd place. The same results for the same two athletes occurred in the 300 M Hurdles. In the 1600 M Run, Westfield swept the top three places with Julia Clark, ChristyAnn Delahunty, and Sophia Brown. Hannah Fife won the 400 M dash with a time of 62.66. She was followed by teammate Isabelle Manley, who ran a 68.75. Sophomore Ashley Baldwin won the 800 M Run with a time of 2:31.43. Margaret placed 3rd in the same race. In the 200 M Dash, Allison Bullock, Ava martin, and Jamilah Pelarios won 1st, 3rd, and 4th place respectively. Two Rocks placed first and second in the 3200 M Run — Sophie Porter and Sarah Coates.

In all, 60% of all girls team members set a new personal best at the meet. The Ladies Track and Field Team will be back in action after their spring break, when they travel to Zionsville on Tuesday, April 9th
