The ladies track and field team roared back to action, kicking off the official 2019 outdoor track and field season on Thursday, March 21st, at Riverview Health Stadium in Westfield. The runners, jumpers, and throwers fired up the track, giving warmth to what was an otherwise cold Indiana spring night. In the sprints, sophomore Hailey Boehm led the way with a victory in the 100 M Dash, running a time of 13.23. She was followed closely behind by her teammate Madeline Ferreri, who achieved a second place finish. In the 200, junior Alison Bullock took the first place finish, as she ran for a time of 28.94. Sophomore Ava Martin also scored points in the 200, placing 3rd. In the 400 M Dash, sophomore Isabelle Manley earned a third place finish running for a time of 1:09.20. The Westfield girls provided a sweep of the top three spots in the 300 M Hurdles event. Led by sophomore Jayden Hammes with a time of 54.09, the two other runners who followed were sophomores Ali Zimmerman and Gabrielle Wiernik. On the distance side, the Rocks submitted some strong performances. In the mile, sophomore Emma Trompen placed second, running a time of 5:59.75. Freshman Alyssa Schleper won the 800 with a time of 2:41.60. The Rocks won the jumps, as senior Camille Kern won the high jump, and sophomore Madeline Ferreri won the long jump at 15′ 5.5″. Senior captain Zoe Pentecost produced consistent performances, earning second place in both the shot put and the discus throw. The Rocks return back to action at home on Tuesday, March 26th, for the Westfield Invite.
