Westfield High School traveled to west on Friday, Apriil 27th to participate in the illustrious Zionsville Invite. The Rocks got a taste of a postseason-style meet and learned that they were capable of achieving greatness. In the Long Jump, the Rocks took 2nd and 3rd place with Sydney Spears (16′ 8.25″) and Sydney Black (16′ 4.5″), respectively. Both athletes achieved season bests on those jumps. In the discus, senior Erin Waite set a new personal record, hurling the implement for a distance of 91′ 11″. Junior Zoe Pentecost also earned a new personal best, throwing the shot put 29′ 5.5″. In the sprints, junior Erianna Ballard achieved a seasonal best in the 100 M dash as she ran a 13.54. Sophomore Ava Henson scored for the Rocks in the 100 M Hurdles, running a time of 17.05 and placing 8th. Senior captain Carly Bogdajewicz ran a new personal best time of 5:31.84 as she raced in the mile. Her counterpart Gabrielle Dilick also set a personal best in the 3200 M Run placing 5th with a time of 11:02.02. The 4 x 100 Team took 2nd in a tough field, combining their efforts for a time of 50.12. while the 4 x 400 team ran for a fourth place finish. The 4 x 800 team ran for a time of 9:51.71 as they placed third. The Rocks will now enter post season competition with a JV Invite on Thursday, May 3rd and the Hamilton County Championships the following day.
