The Westfield Lady Rocks had a fantastic outing at the IHSAA Tournament Sectional Meet. New records were created, and a bevy of athletes advanced on to the regional meet that will be held at Lafayette Jefferson High School. In the field events, junior thrower Zoe Pentecost had a double personal record day, throwing for new bests in the discus (109′ 0″) and the shot put (33′ 11.25″). She earned fourth and sixth in the respective events. Moving from the throws to the jumps, senior Sydney Spears shattered her old personal best long jump by over a foot. She attained a distance of 18′ 0.75″ and a second place finish. In the realm of distance, the senior captain Gabrielle Dilick earned a 3rd place finish in the 3200 M Run, pushing her way to a time of 11:15.42. Sophomore Ava Henson had a breakout day in the 100 M Hurdles. After obtaining a spot in the finals, Henson charged her way to a 3rd place finish with a time of 16.22. In the sprints, Sydney Spears came up big for her team once again. She completed the 400 M Dash in a time of 58.72, obtaining a second place spot and 8 points for her squad. The 4 x 100 M relay squad of Kierstyn Ballard, Erianna Ballard, Haley Boehm, and Alison Bullock ran a time of 50.59, placing fourth. The Rocks will move on to the regional meet of the tournament held at Lafayette Jeff next Tuesday, May 11th.
