The Westfield Lady Rocks had a strong showing at the Lafayette Regional; many competitors will move on to the state championship meet held next week. Senior Sydney Spears will be advancing to state in both the 400 M Run and the Long Jump. In the 400, she set a new personal best time and placed fourth at 57.23. In the long jump, Sydney placed third with a distance of 17’ 3.75”. In the 3200 M run, senior Gabrielle Dilick ran for a time of 11:06.06 and sixth place. Although not advancing, sophomore Ava Henson had a strong finish to her season, running the 100 M Hurdles in a time of 16.24 and placing 12th. The 4 x 400 team consisting of Alison Bullock, Emma Luedke, Hannah Fife, and Sydney Spears earned a seventh place finish with a time of 4:07.67; their counterparts in the 4 x 800 M relay, Sydney Clifford, Sophie Porter, ChristyAnn Delahunty, and Sophia Brown ran a time of 10:09.07 to finish tenth in the field of sixteen entries. The state qualifiers are excited to begin training for the biggest stage of the season, and all non-qualifiers are hungry to start working on their craft in order to have a strong season next year.
