The Westfield Rocks competed to see who had the best squad in Hamilton County on Tuesday, May 7th. Many Rocks competed and answered the challenge, earning individual county championships and new personal bests along the way. Senior captain Zoe Pentecost continued her ascent in the throws, with two county-winning tosses. She hurled the shot put for a distance of 38′ 7.5″ and whipped the discus to a mark of 127′ 6″. Not only were these the top throws in the county, but they also were Pentecost’s new personal bests. Sophomore Haily Boehm also stood out, singlehandedly earning 17.5 points for her squad. Boehm won the 100 M Hurdles with a time of 15.69. She also placed in the 300 M Hurdles and took part on the team’s 4 x 100 M relay team. Sophomore Madeline Ferreri had a breakout meet. Running 13.30 in the 100 M dash, Ferreri leapt all the way to a 16′ 7.5″ long jump as well. She also took part on the 4 x 100 squad.
Many other young ladies celebrated new personal bests throughout the night. In the mile, both Christy Ann Delahunty and Margaret Barnett set their new best marks. Sophia Brown did the same in the 800, while Alison Bullock and Jaden Hammes both sprinted their way to new best times in the 200 M dash.
