The boys track team sent some of their standout athletes to two special invitationals Friday night and returned with some outstanding performances.
The Shamrock sprinters traveled to the Lafayette Jeff Sprint Showcase Friday night to compete against some of the best sprinters in the state and finished with a solid 7th place. Peyton Haack had a fine meet with two 4th places in the 200 and the 110 hurdles. Cooper Boehm finished 9th in the 200, and the 4×100 meter relay of Haack, Boehm, Alex Kukura, and Mason Piening finished 5th. Also competing at the meet were Charles Miller and Justin Homberg.
Meanwhile, the Shamrock distance runners traveled to Franklin Central for the Flashes Showcase, and unscored meet. Emerson Bostic started the meet off right with a 2nd place in the 1st heat of the freshman mile, while Josh Springborn ran a strong 5th. Tyler Smith PRed in the fast freshman heat with an outstanding 4:44.
The 4×800 relay of David Mannella, Mahamet Djour, Jacob Mears, and Max Gutwein spent much of its race in 1st place, before finishing a close 3rd, and Nick Leahy had a fine race in his heat of the Miracle Mile. Other athletes competing in this special invite were Robby Bogdajewicz, Ben Harris, Kyler Koning, Lincoln Strong, Evan Rink, Ryan Schemel, and Jacob Beene.
Saturday’s W-Z Invite was canceled, so the Shamrocks are next set to compete Monday at Noblesville, against the Millers and Carmel, and will compete in a JV meet Thursday at HSE.
