The Westfield boys Varsity soccer team took down Culver Academy in the championship game as the host team of the Westfield Invitational. Scoring for the Shamrocks in the first half was Junior David Green after Junior Ben Wallace worked to win a ball in the box and played it perfectly across to the back side of the goal where Green was waiting to put it away. Late in the second half after Culver was able to tie the game, Colin Maris drove a ball up the the field that Wallace was able to run onto before being taken down in the box for a well earned penalty kick. Senior captain Miguel Ayala stepped up after being called upon to take the penalty and converted to put the team ahead for good and secure the win the less then five minutes left. Notable defensive performances in the field were had by Seniors Max Von Arx and Brady Drlik, along with Junior Ellis Douthit. Senior Aiden Huddleston was able to steady things and get the win in goal. The team is back in action next at home against Hamilton Southeastern.
