The Westfield Girls Track & Field team started their voyage through the 2019 IHSAA State Tournament on Tuesday, May 14th. The squad was headlined by senior captain Zoe Pentecost in the throws. Pentecost won the section in the shot put, with a new personal best toss of 39′ 4″. In the discus, Pentecost threw past the state standard to automatically move on with a throw of 125′ 9″. In the 100 M Hurdles, sophomore standout Hailey Boehm achieved a new personal best with a time of 15.47. She earned a fourth place finish and will be competing in next week’s regional championship. The 4 x 800 M relay squad consisting of ChristyAnn Delahunty, Julia Clark, Hannah Fife and Sophia Brown earned a fifth place finish with a time of 9:42.87. In the 4 x 400, Clark, Brown, Fife, and Alison Bullock fought their way to a 13th place finish. They finished in a time of 4:16.06. Sophomore Sydney Black also had a stand out night by leaping her way to a 16′ 4.5″ long jump finish. The Rocks will compete next Tuesday, May 21st, in the Lafayette Jefferson Regional.
