Grace Beam went 3-3 at the plate, but Westfield Shamrocks Varsity fell 10-4 to Noblesville on Friday.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the third, Westfield Shamrocks Varsity faced just a 6-2 deficit. A steal of home by Shelby Jellison and a sacrifice fly by Savannah Young sparked Westfield Shamrocks Varsity's rally. Avery Higgins flew out to end the Westfield Shamrocks Varsity threat.

Two Westfield Shamrocks Varsity runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the seventh, making the score 10-4. A passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Savannah triggered Westfield Shamrocks Varsity's comeback.

Grace Beam had 3 singles on the day. Cassidy Ferrer, Shelby Jellison, Robbie Harris, and Avery Higgins all had one single a piece.

This was our last regular season game of the year. Tuesday is our Sectional game against Hamilton Southeastern.

The boys track team competed in the Sectional Thursday evening, advanced several athletes to the next round of the post-season. The highlight of the night was a sectional championship by the 4x800m relay of Colin Rinne, Johnny Crawford, Ethan Worthington, and Eric Gonzalez. Also advancing to the regional are Johnny Crawford in the 400, Gonzalez in the 800, and Alec Hartman in the 3200. Other great performances were turned in by Danny Liebbe, Dylan Barnes, Jacob Frank, Nic Alatza, Justin Mamaril, Aaron Bennett, Frank Grimes, Marcus McGee, Ryan Rubicz and Cameron Harrison. The qualifiers run again at the Lafayette Jefferson Regional next Thursday.

The ROCKS golf team posted 296 for an eleven shot victory in the Hamilton County Invite on Thursday afternoon.
The team was led by junior Timmy Hildebrand with 72. Keith Ponsler birdied four of his last six holes for 73, Thomas Lewis added 74 and Johnny Deck with 77. Jeremy Ray rounded out the team with 79.

Westfield Shamrocks Varsity lost 17-6 to Fishers on Thursday, despite a total of nine hits.

Kristin London racked up two RBIs on one hit for Westfield Shamrocks Varsity. She homered in the first inning.

Westfield jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first after Savannah Young doubled and Kristin homered, scoring Savannah.

An RBI single by Avery Higgins, an RBI single by Shelby Jellison, and a two-run error triggered Westfield comeback but it just wasn't enough.

Avery Higgins had 3 singles and Robbie Harris, Shelby Jellison, and Kirsten Smith each added a single.

Kristin added another home run to the single season record tonight.

Friday's home game is the Shamrock's last regular season game.

The Varsity Tennis team took on Guerin Catholic on Thursday night in first round of sectionals dropping the match 1-4.#1 Singles, Laura Moore lost a hard-fought match to Reiley Harrington 6-4, 6-3.
#2 Singles, Anika Mabe dropped her match 6-0, 6-0 to Ashley Jonathan.
#3 singles Lauren Schrader won her match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 against Mallori Bellner. Great way to close out 4 years of varsity tennis for Lauren!
#1 Doubles, Megan Bell and Margeaux Floch dropped their match to Kathryn Godfrey and Gina Vuotto 1-6, 0-6.
#2 Doubles, Jessica Schrader and Meredith Roush played a close match losing to Maddie Fremion and Julia Broadbent 6-3, 6-4.

The girls finished the season with an 8-9 record.

The Westfield Girls Track & Field team posted a strong 5th place finish in the Guerin Sectional Tuesday night en route to qualifying 5 individual events and 2 relays to next week’s West Lafayette Regional Meet. Individuals advancing included: Karen Hubbard who posted a new Sectional record in the 100 with a time of 12.44 and also placed first in the 200 with a time of 26.07, Rebecca Pronschinske who finished third with a time of 26.36 in the 200, and Natalie Ravenell who took second in the high jump at 5 feet 3 inches and third in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet 3 inches. The 4×800 relay kicked off an exciting meet in undoubtedly the most competitive event of the night as 4 teams, including Westfield, set the state standard in the event. The relay team of Shelby Wilson, Devon Leahy, Vicky Evans, & Briana Leonard ran a stellar racing edging Fishers by less than 2 seconds with a time of 9:27.76 in order to qualify for the Regional meet. The 4×100 relay of Karen Hubbard, Rebecca Pronschinske, Natalie Ravenell, & Sarah Golliher also turned some heads edging Fishers for second place as they ran a time of 49.04 which shattered the previous school record of 49.47 set back in 2008. Some other notable performances included: Jada Caldwell in shot (6th place – 34’4”), Emily Robertson in the Hurdles (110H = 9th place -17.19 & 300H = 8th place – 49.99), Devon Leahy in the open 400 (6th- 61.50), Katie Lents in the 1600 (7th place- 5:36.20), Elizabeth Cronin in the 1600 (8th-5:49.52), Taylor Rogers in the open 800 (2:27.50), & the 4×400 relay team of Wilson, Leahy, Hutson, & Leonard (5th-4:11.16).

Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · Girls Tennis tie for 6th at tourney; Moore receives all-conference honors


The Girls Varsity Tennis team finished tied for 6th with Avon at conference tourney on Saturday. #1 singles Laura Moore had the highest finish on the team winning her first round against Noblesville 6-2, 6-0. Then dropping a very close second match to Zionsville  6-7(6-8), 7-5, 7-10 and winning her 3rd round to HSE 6-1, 6-1. Laura finished 3rd in her bracket and received all-conference honors.

#2 singles Annika Mabe lost a close first round match to HSE 3-6, 5-7 then won her seond round against Avon 6-2, 6-3 and won her 3rd round against Noblesville 6-2, 6-0. Annika finished with a 5th place in her bracket.

#3 Singles Lauren Schrader lost her first round against Fishers 5-7, 4-6, then rebounded to win her second match against Brownsburg 6-3, 7-5 and won her third round against Avon 6-3, 7-6(9-7). Lauren finished with a 5th place in her bracket.

#1 Doubles of Margeaux Floch and Megan Bell won their first match against McCutcheon 6-4, 6-4 then dropped matches to Harrison 6-1, 6-0 and Fishers 2-6, 1-6. Megan and Hana Lutz then dropped the final match to Avon 1-6, 2-6.

#2 Doubles of Jessica Schrader and Meredith Roush won their first match against McCutcheon 6-1, 6-3 then dropped a very close 3rd set tiebreak to Harrison 1-6, 7-6(7-4) 7-10. They lost their second round to Fishers 3-6, 1-6 and their 3rd round to Brownsburg 4-6, 4-6.

Westfield Shamrocks Varsity fights back, defeats Lafayette Jefferson, 15-12 in a big HCC win.

The two teams combined for 27 runs and 24 hits, including seven extra base hits.

The Shamrocks Varsity was sparked by Kristin and Savannah Young, who teamed up for seven hits and nine RBIs.

The top of the second saw Westfield take an early lead, 2-0. Westfield added more runs when Jellison scored on a fielder's choice.

Westfield scored three runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with three more in the fourth. In the third, Westfield scored on a three-run home run by Kristin, scoring Savannah and Grace Beam.

Savannah Young added two singles and Grace Beam, Robbie Harris, and Avery Higgins each had a single a piece. Kristin London also hit her 5th Home run of the season which broke the school record for single season home runs.
