On Friday, the Rocks hosted the Noblesville Millers at Grand Park to open a two game Hoosier Crossroads Conference series. The Rocks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an Austin Wessel single. The Millers answered right back with two runs after Smitherman walked the eight and nine hitters and Cooper Miles singled them in. In the bottom of the third inning, the Rocks tied the game on a Tyler Smitherman ground out with runners at second and third base. Then, with two outs, Zach Smitherman delivered the go ahead RBI two out single to put the Rocks up for good. Tyler Smitherman started on the mound for Westfield and earned the win with four innings pitched allowing just three hits, two earned runs and striking out five. Mason Cox earned the save with three innings of outstanding relief, allowing no earned runs on just one hit and striking out two. The win pulls the Rocks into a second place tie with the Millers, one game back of leader HSE. The two will finish the HCC portions of the series Saturday at noon at Don Dunker Field.
