In an effort to avoid impending inclement weather, the Rocks opened a HCC series with Fishers early on Wednesday, April 17th at Tiger Field. The Rocks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a Tyler Smitherman single but the Tigers answered back with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Smitherman struck again in the top of the 6th inning to give the Rocks a 2-1 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Fishers tied the game on a triple and then took the lead 3-2 on a Rocks error. The Tigers held off a Luke Huston single in the 7th to secure the 3-2 victory and capture game one. Parker Bard pitched five innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out eight on the night.
In game two, Fishers traveled to Shamrock Field. The Tigers scored first but the Rocks pounded out seven unanswered runs to win 7-1. Payton Tamm started on the mound for the Rocks and gave them a solid outing, pitching four innings allowing just one earned run on one hit and striking out five. Mason Cox entered the game with the Rocks up 6-1 and turned in three outstanding innings of relief allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out three. Offensively, Trey Anderson was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a stolen base and an RBI. Bryce Dorton was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI on the night as well.
