The Rocks traveled to Brownsburg to open an HCC series with the Bulldogs Thursday evening. Westfield opened up the first with three runs and continued to add to that lead through the fifth inning, scoring two in the second, four in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth innings to build an 11-1 lead and then hold on to win 11-3. Parker Bard started for the Rocks and, despite not having his best outing, limited the Bulldogs to just one run over 3.2 innings of work. Eli Patchett threw 2.2 innings allowing just two earned runs and striking out four. Offensively, the Rocks exploded for 15 hits on the night. Senior Austin Wessel had a huge night at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a home run, double and 2 RBI. Trey Anderson was 2 for 3 with a double, home run, and two RBI and Bryce Dorton was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Zach Collins and Kyle Pepiot each had two hits on the night as well. The Bulldogs will travel to Shamrock Field tonight to close out the HCC Series. First pitch is scheduled for 6p and the first 50 students in attendance at the game will receive a free scoop from Culver’s.
