After a week of rainouts, the Rocks hosted the Avon Orioles in a double header to open a HCC series. In game one, Brian Skelton took the mound and turned in a gem. He pitched 5 innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three to earn his third win of the season. Sam Eaton and Logan McClurg each pitched a scoreless inning of relief and McClurg earned his third save of the season in as many attempts. Offensively, Matthew Meyer led the way with two hits and two RBI. Zach Collins and Evan Tomak each contributed two hits as well.
In game two, Matthew Meyer started for Westfield and was dominate pitching allowing just one hit over six innings of work while striking out four to earn his third win on the seasons as the Rocks won 8-0. Offensively, the Rocks scored two in the first and one in the fourth before breaking it open with a four run fifth inning. Logan McClurg doubled and had two RBI. Kaleb Pettijohn had two hits and Sam Eaton, Brian Skelton and Jason Gabbonesch each went 1 for 2 on the day. The wins put the Rocks at an even 7-7 in HCC play with the final game of the HCC series at Avon on Monday. The Rocks will then open their final HCC series with the second ranked Fishers Tigers on Thursday at Fishers.
