The #8 Westfield Boys Cross Country team competed against 29 teams in the Terre Haute Savings Bank Invitational Saturday, finishing 3rd and defeating 5 ranked teams along the way. The Shamrocks were led by Aaron Bennett’s runner up finish, and got great races out of Nick Leahy who PR’ed and finished 12th, James McClure, Noah Shourd and Jude Phillips. Noah Douthit and Jacob Mears also had strong races, running personal bests while racing in their first “big meet” varsity races. Desmond Herrell also scored for the Rocks as the team’s 3rd finisher.
The JV team, led by Luke Tragesser in his 2nd great race of the week, finished 4th, only 4 points out of 3rd. Also putting in great efforts for the Rocks were Johnny McClure, who had a breakthrough race, Duncan McGraw with a big personal best run and Samuel Novak, running his 3rd PR in 3 races. Other fine JV runs were turned in by Gavin Clinkenbeard, Joe Barnett, Nik Pensyl, Thomas May, Robby Foland, and Nate Eggers.
The boys are back in action next Saturday as they split the squad at The Eagle Classic at Brown County High School, and the Ben Davis Invite.
