Westfield traveled to Don Dunker Field to open Sectional play with the Hamilton Southeastern Royals on Thursday. The game was tied at 0-0 until the bottom of the 4th when the Rocks broke open the game with a 4 run inning. The Royals responded in the top of the 5th by loading the bases with no outs, but the Rocks slammed the door on a big inning for the Royals with a huge double play to kill their momentum and get out of the inning only allowing one run. The 5th inning threat was really the only trouble Ryan Pepiot, Westfield’s starter, encountered. Pepiot pitched a complete game shut out, allowing one earned run on just two hits and striking out six as the Rocks won 4-1 to advance to the Sectional Semi-Final against the Fishers Tigers. Offensively, teh Rocks had 8 hits, led by Matt Meyer and Logan Schneider who each went 3 for 3 with an RBI on the night. Jackson Garrett added an RBI double as well.
