Meet Recap

Saturday morning started with rain and more rain. However, that didn’t stop over 20 teams from competing in the FlashRock XC Invitational. On the Girls Varsity, leading the Westfield Shamrocks through the wet course was Devon Leahy who took 10th overall with a 19:05.2. Lauren Bailey took 24th overall and was second for the Rocks. Gabby Dilick made a big come back after being off for a few weeks in order to heal injury. Unafraid of the course, Dilick was the Rocks 4th runner and close behind her was Carly Bogdajewicz who rounded out the top five finishers for the Shamrocks. Overall, the girls placed 11th out of 23 teams.

On the JV side, the Rocks had some great performances, and girls who took risks to help lead their teammates. Andie Martin led the Rocks with a 14th place overall finish, but her teammates were close on her heals. Maggie McAndrews, six seconds behind Martin, was 2nd for the Shamrocks and 22nd overall. The JV top seven came in within 90 seconds of each other. They finished 6th overall in team scoring. Out of the 246 girls running, the JV Rocks had all 10 of their runners in the top 75 finishers.
