The 19th ranked Rocks traveled to Hartman Field last night to open the 2015 season against the 23rd ranked Carmel Greyhounds. The Greyhounds took advantage of three Shamrock errors, scattering four runs in the first three innings and tacking on one in the 6th inning en route to a 5-0 win. Sophomore Noah Shanteau started on the mound for the Rocks and turned in a solid effort, delivering 3.2 innings of work while striking out five and allowing only one earned run. Senior Jackson Bard relieved Shanteau, who was on a pitch count, and pitched 1.1 innings of relief. He struck out one and walked one while not allowing a run. Junior Ryan Pepiot pitched the sixth inning, allowing one run but struck out the side. Offensively, the Rocks sputtered out of the gate and could only muster three hits on the evening. Junior Harrison Freed went 2 for 3 and Senior Chris Ayers went 1 for 3 on the night. The Rocks will regroup and open a HCC three game series with 6th ranked Zionsville tonight as they host the Eagles at Shamrock Field for a 6pm game.
