The Westfield boys track and field team finished off its indoor season with a solid HSR state meet. The highlight of the day was the 4×800 meter relay team of Johnny Crawford, Aaron Bennett, Alec Hartman, and Sam Henthorn winning the state championship and breaking the school record they set last week by a stunning 6 seconds. Martell Fletcher ran very well in the 60 meter hurdle prelims, but a technical problem mis-scored the event keeping him from running in finals. When the mistake was rectified, Martell came home with a 7th place medal, helping the team to finish 10th in the state. The 4×400 meter relay team of Ryan Rubicz, Justin Mamaril, Dylan Barnes, and Charles Miller also ran well, improving on their qualifying time by several seconds. The boys open their outdoor season Thursday at Brownsburg.
