Game Recap
The Westfield boy’s varsity soccer team opened up tournament play against #12 Zionsville Wednesday night. The Rocks fell behind midway through the first half off a defensive miscue. Zahir Martinez drove into the box a few minutes later and earned a penalty kick that Jose Solis calmly finished to even the game at one. In the second half, the Shamrocks couldn’t finish in front of net. Hector Martinez found himself standing on top of a free kick from 40 yards out with just over a minute left. With the season on the line, he sent the ball into the 6 yard box, where Josh Campbell redirected the service into the path of Jose Solis. All it took was a touch to seal the victory and send Westfield on to the next round. Connor Genatempo gave Westfield some solid play in the back and Mikey Maloney put in 80 strong minutes. The Rocks play again in Lebanon on Saturday night at 7 pm against #6 Carmel for the Sectional
