Game Recap
The Westfield Boy’s Soccer Team celebrated Senior Night with 3-0 victory over conference rival HSE. The Rocks and Royals played to an even 0-0 score line in the first 40 minutes of play. However, in the second half the Rocks increased their pressure and injected some new players into the line-up. Sam Mueller made use of his playing time by making an incredible run down the sideline, breaking free from an HSE defender and accelerating another 30 yards toward the endline. He ripped a cross to the middle of the box, where Zahir Martinez slyly finished by cutting the ball back across the keeper and into the back of the net. Sam Mueller earned a goal himself a few minutes later to put the Rocks up by two when he sent a lefty volley into the upper part of the goal. Matt Clary continued his stellar performance from Saturday by finishing up the scoring by cleaning up a rebound off a long shot from midfield. Paul Waite, Mikey Maloney, and Kyle Percak anchored the defense in the shut out and Tanner Gurin earned his first official start and shut-out of his career. The Rocks are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Noblesville. The JV team played to a 1-1 tie with HSE, which was their fourth tie of the season. Dylan Barnes scored the lone goal for the Rocks and Jared Dorman was dangerous all game long.
