The 7th ranked Rocks traveled to Zionsville to open an HCC series with the defending HCC Champion and Regional Champion Eagles. Westfield jumped on the Eagles early, scoring two runs in the first and second innings to open a 4-0 lead. The Rocks tacked on a run in the 5th and went on to defeat the Eagles 5-1. Luke Dietz was absolutely dominate on the mound, pitching a complete game on only 89 pitches, scattering five hits and allowing only one run by a potent Zionsville offense. Dietz struck out six and walked only one batter. Offensively, Chase Shaw remained smoking hot at the plate with a 4 for 4 night. He was only a home run shy of the cycle as he had a double, triple and an RBI. Nathan Manworren was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Matt Kinney was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Bailey Partlow was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI. Cole McCrary continued to rack up RBI’s on the season, going 1 for 2 with an RBI to increase his team leading 17 RBI’s. The Rocks will now host the Eagles tonight at Shamrock field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
