#7 Westfield made the short trip to Carmel Friday night for a showdown with the Carmel Greyhounds. The Greyhounds had trouble stopping the Rocks offensively as they scored in five of the seven innings of the game en-route to a 9-3 victory. Freshman Max McCool got the start and pitched three innings, allowing three unearned runs to earn the win. Luke Dietz pitched one inning of relief and his brother, Jake Dietz, pitched the final three frames striking out four Carmel batters. Offensively, the Rocks pounded out nine hits, three of which were home runs. Nick Ferrer hit a three run home run in the third inning to break the game open. Chase Shaw contributed three hits and a home run while Chris Ayers hit a solo home run as well. Jake Dietz delivered a two out, two run single the fifth. The Rocks are now 10-3 overall and 7-1 in HCC play and will open a big HCC series with Zionsville at home on Monday at 5:30 pm.
