The 7th ranked Rocks traveled to Brownsburg to play a HCC double header last night. In game one, the Rocks jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs pulled within one run in the 3rd inning only to have the Rocks answer with two in the 4th inning and then hang on for the 6-4 win. Trent Dean earned the win with 5 innings of work on the mound. Luke Dietz pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the save. Offensively, Chase Shaw was 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI. Cole McCrary was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Bailey Partlow 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. In game two, the Bulldogs struck first with one run in the third inning and three in the fourth and the Rocks were never able to recover as they eventually lost 8-1. Westfield scattered seven hits, but miscues prevented them from producing runs in game two. Chris Ayers provided the only run for the Rocks on solo home run in the 4th inning. The loss was the first for the Rocks in HCC play (7-1) and puts them into a tie for first place with Lafayette Jeff. Westfield will travel to Carmel tonight for a 5:30 pm clash with the Greyhounds.
