Game Recap

The freshman Rocks of Westfield went to Zionsville looking to complete a program- wide sweep of the Eagles, and the young Rocks fought and earned their way to a victory with a score of 35-22. With the Big Play of the night on special teams, returner Joseph Wolfe ran back a kickoff deep into Eagles’ territory, setting up the first Rocks’ score. On the defense’s first drive, Owen Dossett earned the defense’s Big Play award for making a great hustle play to stop a potential Zionsville score, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.

Quickly after the defensive stop, QB Nick Talley found wide receiver Carson Voorhis in the end zone for the second TD, the offense’s Big Play of the night. Voorhis contributed greatly throughout the entire game, earning Offensive Player of the Game Honors. While he weaved through the opposing the defense, the Rocks’ offensive line consistently held firm, protecting for Talley and opening up running lanes.

Defensively, the entire first unit routinely forced three-and- out stops and played a physical brand of football. Linebacker Gabe Arvin and defensive end Seth Martin stepped up and won defensive Player of the Game honors.

On Special Teams, Kyle Byers stepped up, sniffing out a fake punt and getting the stop, giving the offense great field position to go down and score. Christiaan Huisden fought all night on nearly every special team, earning him the Mr. Consistency award for the unit.

The freshman Rocks will return to action next Monday, September 11 at home vs. conference rival Noblesville. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. Go Rocks!
